Will of John Robins 14 July 1789 Alexandria Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey In the Name of God Amen. The Fourteenth Day of July 1789. I John Robins of the Township of Alexandria County of Hunterdon and Western Division of the State of New Jersey Yoeman, being very Sick and weak in Body, but of perfect Mind and Memory, Thanks be to God for it; Therefore calling to mind the Mortallity of my Body, and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to Die, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament; That is to say, principally and first of all, I give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God that gave it, And my Body I recommend to the Earth, to be buried in decent Christian Burial, at the Descretion of my Executors hereafter named; nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again, by the mighty Power of God. And as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form, First I Will that all my Debts and Funeral Charges be paid and discharged by my Executors herein after named. And it is also my will that my whole Estate Shall be turned into Cash as soon as Conveniently can be done, by my Executors hereafter named and it is also my Will, and I give and Bequeath unto my well beloved Wife Elizabeth Robins the one third part of my whole Estate to be paid to her by my Executor as Soon as conveniently can be raised, And it is also my will that that the other two thirds of my Estate Shall be Devided between my Six Children, Jonathan Robins, Robert Robins, Mary Robins, Lydia Robins, Rachel Robins, and John Robins to be Divided in Such manner that each Son Shall have Six Pounds more to his share than a Daughter my Three Sons to have Share and Share alike, and my three Daughters to have Share and Share alike in manner as above Said which shares shall be paid to each Son as soon as he shall arive [sic] to the age of twenty one years, and to each Daughter as soon as She shall arive [sic] to the age of Eighteen Years to be paid by my Executors, And it is also my will that the last mentioned two thirds of my Estate shall be put out to Interest, if my Executors find it convenient, which Interest Shall be applied towards bringing up my younger Children, And it is also my will that my Son Jonathan shall be put to a Trade if he Chuses, and also that my Son Robert Shall be put out to his Grandfather Robins to. learn the Weavers Trade, And it is also my Will that my other four Children Shall stay with their Mother if She Chuses to keep them but if not, then to be put out at the Discretion of my Executors.
