Our beloved brother, brother-in-law, uncle and cousin went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 23, 2004. Age 73 years. He was born February 1, 1931 in Canton, Ill., the son of the late James and Viola Leek. He graduated from Canton High School and attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo. and Wayne State University in Detroit, Mich. Willard was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. He lived and worked in California before moving to Saginaw in 1990. Willard was a happy go lucky person who was well loved by all. He was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, reading and working puzzles. A good discussion or debate always caught his attention. Although Willard did not have any children of his own his nieces and nephews were his pride and joy. He is survived by one sister and one brother, Lila (Steve) Sims of Maywood, Ill,; and Bernard Leek of Saginaw, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Doreen Leek of Saginaw, Mich.; and Odean Leek of Danville, Ill,; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Willard was predeceased by three brothers, E. Paul Leek, John Leek and James Carlyle Leek and one sister, Gladys Withers. A family hour will take place 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2004 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 721 Johnson St. Rev. Rodrick A. Smith will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Evans-Smith Funeral Home, 630 N. Jefferson.
