Member of Morristown Baptist Tabernacle. Retired from ASARCO, Inc. after 40 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, Gilmer and Rose Lakins; and brother, Kenny Mitchell. Survived by wife of 39 years, Dot Chandler Lakins; sister, Kathleen Storm; sister-in-law, Carolyn Mitchell; His special pride and joy Gizmo and Ozark; special cousin, Carolyn Montgomery; special nieces, nephews and spouses, Fred and Bobbie West, Bobby (Tate) West, Barbara and Alan Sellers, Brenda and Larry Jones, Larry and Doris Duck, Carolyn and Mick Kuykendall, Cathy and Tim McGinnis, Chris Mitchell. Special Thanks to Dr. Richard Antonucci, Jennifer, Buffey and Jennifer Poteet and all the staff at Tennessee Cancer Center. Special thanks to Tom Parrott and Marshall Hargis for trips made taking Wayne to Doctors and places. Special thanks to Carolyn and Gary Laws for all the meals they prepared. Special thanks to John and Linda Thaller and all the employees of House of Thaller where Dot works, thanks Eva Thaller for all you have done and all the prayers from friends. Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Thursday in the chapel at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Chandler officiating. Soloist will be Pam Woodfin. Family and friends will meet at 11:45 AM Friday at Eastview Memorial Gardens for an 12:00 Noon entombment. Pallbearers: Marshall Hargis, Paul Underwood, Jim Montgomery, Tom Parrott, Roy Bales and Danny Martin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the animal shelter of your choice.
