Sue Lakey

(Edna) Sue Lakey died at 1:30 p.m. on August 26, 2007, at the Gulf
Healthcare center in Galveston, Texas, at the age of 83. She was born on
October 3, 1923, in Glenwood, Arkansas, to her parents, Jack Sorrells
and Inez Herndon Sorrells. On June 6, 1945, she wed Floyd Lakey, who
preceded her in death in 1990. Shortly after her marriage, she moved to
Galveston, Texas, where she spent most of her life.

She is survived by her son, Jack Lakey, who lives in Salt Lake City,
Utah, with his wife Lorraine. She also has a grandson, Steven and two
great-grandsons, Austin and Travis Lakey, currently residing in Perth,
Australia.

Sue had a hard life, along with several health concerns, including
cancer and heart problems. She was one of those mothers who always gave
unconditional love to her son and his family. She was a simple woman
who could easily talk to people she met and was quick to make friends.

A private cremation was conducted by Hayes Funeral Home in Hitchcock,
Texas.

A private interment will be conducted by Christ United Methodist Church
