The Daily Record, Wooster, Ohio 14 Jun 2006 Robert Lakin APPLE CREEK - Robert E. 'Bob' Lakin, 77, 91 Rustic Lane, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at Wooster Community Hospital in Wooster. Services will be (today) Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, with the Rev. Chuck Davis officiating. Burial will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, were military rites will be observed. Friends may call tonight from 6-8 p.m. prior to the services. Box 17, Orrville 44667. Robert was born March 15, 1929, in Hardy, Ky., to Samuel and Emma (Morrison) Lakin and married Helen Frances Syck on June 13, 1949. She survives. He served as a private first class in the U.S. Army from 1948-52, when he was honorably discharged in Fort Campbell, Ky. He worked in the shipping and receiving department at the J.M. Smucker Co. for 23 years, retiring in 1990, and was a member of Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and was a collector of sports memorabilia. He was an avid fan of the Browns, Cavs and Indians. Surviving in addition to his wife, are daughters, Peggy (Gary) Higgins of Apple Creek and Marsha (Ron) Tuttle of Wooster; grandsons, Travis and Troy Higgins, Rob and Jason Adkins; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Douglas (Josephine) Lakin and a sister, Agatha Mullins, both of Pikeville, Ky. His parents, four brothers and five sisters died previously.
