Tampa Tribune; Tampa FL; 2003-10-13 LAKER, Paul M., 91, of New Port Richey, passed away October 10, 2003, at the Community Hospital in New Port Richey. He was born in Gessie, Ind., and moved to this area in 1982 from Hanna City, Ill. He was a member of the Central Christian Church in Danville, Ill., and served our country in World War II in the Merchant Marine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael M. and Amy G. Laker; by his brother, Orville Laker; and by his grandson, Michael A. Laker. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Betty; by his son, Larry L Laker, Sr.; by his two grandsons, Larry L. Laker, Jr. and Steven P. Laker, both of Illinois; and by five great-grandchildren. He will be laid to rest in the Atherton Cemetery in Danville, Ill. News Gazette; Champaign-Urbana IL; 2003-10-13 The News-Gazette, Champaign, IL 10/13/03 Paul Laker DANVILLE -- Paul Michael Laker, 91, of Pasco County, Fla., formerly of Danville, died at 3:35 p.m. Friday (Oct. 10, 2003) at Community Hospital, New Port Richey, Fla. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pape Memorial Home and Cremation Gardens, 10 E. Williams St., Danville. Pastor Don Van Zandt will officiate. Burial will be in Atherton Cemetery, Danville. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Laker was born June 10, 1912, in Gessie, Ind., a son of Michael and Amy Hathaway Laker. He married Betty Osborn on June 10, 1934, in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Larry L. Laker Sr. of Mexico; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a grandson. Mr. Laker attended Douglas Grade School and graduated from Danville High School and took many courses in banking. He worked for the Second National Bank. He was a member of Central Christian Church, Masons, Shriners and Elks. He enjoyed reading, writing letters, sign lanugage, dancing and playing the organ.
