Hamilton Journal News (Hamilton OH) - November 16, 1996, Saturday, Page A4 Mary Evelyn Lakes, age 73, of Hamilton, passed away in her residence, Friday, November 15, 1996 at 8:25 a.m. She was born in Hamilton on July 4, 1923, the daughter of Dale and Lucy (Short) Minter. Mary was a 1941 graduate of Hamilton High School; a member of the Eagles Lodge #407 Auxiliary, American Legion Post #138 Auxiliary, the Senior Citizens, and was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. In 1962 she became an Obedience Judge for dog shows throughout the Uited States for 30 years and has been a member of the Hamilton dog Training club and Queen city Dog Training Club since 1956. On June 7, 1941 in Stanford, Kentucky she was married to Bennie I. Lakes and he preceded her in death in 1973. She is survived by one son, Richard and his wife Marsha Lakes of Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughter, Carolyn Harader of Hamilton, Pamela and her husband George Hauck of Shandon; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one half-brother, Broadus Baker of Hamilton. She was preceded in eath by her parents; one son, Bennie Ray Lakes in 1963; one sister, Edna Minter; a grandson George Merrill Jr. Funeral services will beheld from the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home 1350 Millville Ave. Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with Robert Haynes, Lay Visitation Minister of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
