Idaho Statesman - Boise ID - 1999-9-29 Lena Christine Lakey, 88, of Wilder and formerly of Caldwell, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at a Boise hospital of natural causes. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at the Emmett Cemetery, with Pastor Brian Dyer of Ustick Church of the Nazarene, Caldwell, officiating. Services are under the direction of Daken Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Lena was born March 16, 1911, in Sweden, Douglas County, Mo., the daughter of Kell and Lula Hammons Fleetwood, where she was raised and educated. She married William Lakey March 16, 1931, in Ava, Mo., where they lived until 1942, at which time they moved to Idaho. After a few years of farm laboring they spent the next few years opening different restaurants, finally starting Lakey's Restaurant in Caldwell in 1958. They resided there until their retirement in October 1967. Mr. Lakey died May 22, 1968. Lena is survived by three children, Stella and her husband, Howard Smallwood of Wilder, Don Lakey and his wife Joan of Cambridge, and Annetta and her husband James Naillon of Cambridge; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Lena was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; a sister; and a great-grandson.
