Missoulian, Missoula MONTANA; 2000-3-18 JULIAN J. LAKIN MISSOULA - Julian J. Lakin, 77, of Missoula, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2000, of natural causes at St. Patrick Hospital. He was born on Oct. 2, 1922, in Puposky, Minn., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leigh Lakin. Julian attended Bemidji High School and then enlisted in the U. S. Air Corps, in which he served from Jan. 7, 1942 to Jan. 7, 1946. Julian worked in road construction and was a logger for most of his life. He enjoyed spending his free time fishing and hunting. He was a caring and giving person to his family and friends and will be missed by all. Julian was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Fred Lakin; and two sisters, Helene Johnson and Cloetta Neidermyer. Survivors include his daughter, Christian Lakin, of Missoula; two granddaughters, Jordyn and Kassidee of Missoula; son and daughter-in-law Pat and Mikal Lakin and granddaughter KaeLee of Corvallis; two granddaughters, Rebecca and Anna Myers of Stevensville; two brothers, Claude of Puposky and Jerry of Post Falls, Idaho; one sister Beverly Ruzicka of Nebish, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his friends and family at "Al and Vic's." A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 20, at 1 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Jack Harrington as celebrant. A wake will follow at Al & Vic's. The family suggests that memorials be made to Christian Lakin, 1237 Butte Ave. No. 1, Missoula, MT 59802. Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.
