The Chronicle Telegram Elyria OH August 31,2007 John Lakis,jr 82, of Elyria,Ohio. died August 30, 2007 at his home after a short illness. he was born March 13, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY and had been a resident of Elyria since 1947. He was a master optican and district manager for Bausch & Lomb,Inc until his retirement in 1981,. He later for E.B graondskeeper for Forrest Hills Golf Course. Mr Lakis was a WW ll U.S.Navy veteran. He was a member of V.F.W.post 1079 in Elyria. He also a 25 year member of Alcoholics Anonymous and volunteer with the Arid Fellowship Center, where he was affectionately known as "Papa John" he enjoyed swimming,fishing,golfing,motorcycling and traveling. He is survived by wife of 57 years Donna R.(nee Adams) Lakis; daughters Debbie (dale) Diedrick of Elyria, Barbara Kovach of Avon, and Cathy Lakis of avon lake; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and his loving dog, Jake. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr.& Catherine (nee Bauman) Lakis; and sister, Dorothy Herrick in 1995. The family will receive friends Sunday,September 2, 2007,from 4P.M.till the time of a memorial service at 6 P.M. in the Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria.Ohio. with A.A. conducting the service.
