Kansas City Star; Kansas City MO; 2003-4-22 Jack Enos Lakey, 76, Prairie Village, passed away, Saturday, April 19, 2003 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2003 at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 9100 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the church. Private burial will be at Antioch Cemetery, Merriam, KS. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the endowment fund at the church. He wa born, October 3, 1926, in Neodesha, KS, the son of Enos and Doris (Biggs) Lakey. Mr. Lakey had lived in the Kansas City area most of his life, and the past 14 years in Prairie Village. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. He entered the United State Army in 1944 and served in WWII. He married Norma Becker on June 2, 1951 in Kansas City, MO. Mr. Lakey graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in architecture. He was employed by Marshall and Brown Architects and Engineers for 30 years. He then became self employed and worked full time up until his hospitalization. He was an avid sailor, woodworker, and started learning classical guitar at age 74. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Arlie Lakey. Survivors include his wife, Norma Lakey, of the home; three daughters, Mary Suptic, of Kansas City, Karen Isenhower of Houston, TX, Barbara Crockett of Broken Arrow, OK; two brothers Bill Lakey of Barnett, MO, Leroy Lakey of Anderson IN; one sister, Addie Stark of Garnett, KS; and seven grandchildren.
