Born February 26, 1921 he was a humble servant of the Lord and a friend to all. His life was devoted to God and to serving his church, pastoring several churches in 57 years of ministering. Currently a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, member of Fountain City Lodge #757 F&AM. Preceded in death by parents, Estle and Sallie Lakin, son, Glen Lakin and wife Carol; daughters, Carolyn Rogers and husband Don, Barbara Wolfenbarger and husband Wayne, Kathy Lakin; six grandchildren, Melissa Neibert, Jamie (Chris) Brown, Brian Lakin, Ramona (Dan Jr.) Burle, Jason Rogers, Lindsay Lakin; three great-grandchildren, Amber Neibert, Jordan and Emilee Brown; brother and sister in law, Clarence and Betty Lakin, sisters and brothers in law, Wanda "Susie" and Alfred James, Imogene "Jean" and Raymond Simmons; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Lakin, Claudine "Polly" Lakin, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church on Norris Freeway, Rev. Bill Smith, Rev. Wayne Bruce Marston officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Honorary pallbearers: Minister and Deacons attending the funeral. Pallbearers: Lynn Carter, Bob Holbert, Bryan Lakin, Chris Brown, Jason Rogers, Wayne Wolfenbarger, Don Rogers, Ancil Hooks, Jr. The body will lie in state one hour before the service.
