HELEN LOUISE LAKIN Helen Louise Lakin, formerly of Sylvania, OH, recently
of Ottawa, IL, Sarasota, and St. Petersburg, FL, died August 12, 2001, at
Community Hospital of Ottawa. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Thursday,
August 16, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Visitation will be 5-7
p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Unity
School of Christianity, Unity Village, MO 64065, or Lourdes College,
6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania, OH 43560. Mrs. Lakin was born March 18,
1920, in Kansas City, MO. She married Calvin M. Lakin on June 7, 1941,
in Kansas City; he preceded her in death March 27, 1997. Mrs. Lakin was
active in the early formation and founding of Unity Farm.

 Helen Louise Lakin, 81, Ottawa, Ill., and formerly of Sarasota, died Aug.
12, 2001, at Community Hospital of Ottawa.
 She was born March 18, 1920, in Kansas City, Mo., and was involved in the
early formation and founding of Unity Farm, a Christian retreat in Kansas
City. She was founder of the Port Huron, Mich., Little Theatre Group and
had taught English in Afghanistan.
 Survivors include three daughters, Calla Baker of St. Petersburg, Clare
Harvey of Ottawa and Laurie Sams of Sarasota; a sister, Dorothy L. Rice of
Lakewood, Colo.; and six grandchildren.
 Services will be in Ottawa, where Mueller Funeral Homes is in charge.
