LAKEY GRANITE FALLS - Florence Elizabeth Chambers Lakey, 103, of Sunset Street, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2003, at Camelot Manor Nursing Care Facility. She was born June 17, 1900, in Blount County, Tenn., to the late Ed Chambers and Annie Haney Chambers. Mrs. Lakey was a homemaker and of Baptist faith. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents; her husband, James Robert Lakey; three daughters, Annie Lucille Spradling, Ruthie O. Graham and Frances Sloan; five sons, Dave Lakey, Ed Lakey, Clifford Lakey, Archie Lee Kakey and Robert Lakey; a step-son, Marion Lakey; three sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include a son, Max E. Lakey of Lenoir; a daughter, Jessie L. Morrison of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Mackie-High Chapel with the Revs. Phillip Coffey and Doug Woody officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Granite Falls. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Mackie-High Funeral Home.
