Daily Reporter; Greenfield IN; 2005-8-17 Donald G. Lakin, 69, of Greenfield died Aug. 15, 2005 Born Dec. 6, 1935, in Marion County, he was the son of Otto Homer and Marjorie Ellen (Merrick) Lakin. He was enployed as a senior manufacturing engineer with Allison Transmission for 28 years, retiring in 1992. He then continued to work for Allison's as a subcontractor until 2002. He was a member of the Calvary Bsptist Church in Greenfield and the Fortville Masonic Lodge. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis in 1955 and earned his associates degree in engineering from Purdue University. Survivors include his wife Carlene Marie (Green) Lakin who he married Aug. 9, 1959;, son Michael Lakin of Indianapolis; daughters Sandra Williams and Jill Martin, both of Greenfield, Sally Crockett of Fortville and Janet Maiden of Indianapolis; brothers Charles Lakin of Danville, Robert Lakin of Brownsburg and Thomas Lakin of Indianapolis, six grandchildren and 4 stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Lakin and sisters, Betty Lakin and Barbara Hunt. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thuursday at Erlewein Mortuary, Greenfield Chapel with Pastor Roger Kinion officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home where there will be a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1450 W.
