The Blade; Toledo OH; 2000-8-28 Danny "Dan" L. Lakin, 44, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Saturday, August 26, 2000, at H.B. Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton, OH. He was born on Dec. 25, 1955 in Sandusky, OH to Ralph and Joyce (Lane) Lakin. He was a 1973 graduate of Port Clinton High School. On March 15, 1987 in Las Vegas, NV he married Patricia "Pat" (Varga), and she survives. Mr. Lakin worked as the service and parts manager at Baumann Chevrolet-Olds in Oak Harbor for the past 27 years. He also helped deliver the Toledo Blade and helped his son deliver the News Herald. Mr. Lakin was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Oak Harbor and an assistant coach for the Little League Cubs in Oak Harbor. He was also an avid Cleveland Indians and Pittsburg Stellers fan, as well as an avid drag racer. Survivors include wife, Patricia "Pat" Lakin; children, Benjamin and Danielle Lakin, both at home; parents, Ralph and Joyce Lakin of Port Clinton; grandmothers, Mary Lane of Sandusky, OH andAdia Dill of Fort Scott, Kansas, and sisters, Pamela (David) Kubasek of Catawba Island, OH and Jennifer (Ryan) Orosz of Oak Harbor. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, William Lane and Reverend J.N. Lakin. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wed., Aug. 30, 2000, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Oak Harbor, with prayers recited beforehand at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-9 p.m. with family present from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robinson-Henn-Brossia Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. There will be a Parish Wake service Tuesday evening at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be given in care of the Lakin children.
