Hamilton Journal-News (OH), Monday, October 7, 2002 - Pg B2 - Daisy Brookes Lakes On October 5, 2002, our hearts were filled with sorrow as Daisy Brookes Lakes went home to be with her Lord. Daisy was a loving woman whose heart was filled with compassion for others. She was faithful in sending hundreds of cards to shut-ins, the sick, and to her many friends on special occasions. She had a smile and a warm hug for all those who crossed her path in life. She has been a faithful prayer warrior her entire life. Daisy's life was focused on the needs of others. She married Charles (Whitey) Lakes on April 22, 1946. They shared 56 precious years. Daisy was an active and dedicated member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Charles Lakes; daughters, Judy (Bill) Reichle and Ruth Ann Horn; son, Carl (Shelley) Lakes; grandchildren, Jon and David Reichle, Natalie and Ashley Lakes; brothers, Abel (Kathleen) Cunagin, Curt (Lillie) Cunagin, Ray (Jewel) Cunagin, Lloyd (Eva) Cunagin, Ronald (Janice) Cunagin, Gary (Margie) Cunagin, Paul (Kathy) Cunagin; sister, Dean McQueen; loving sister-in-law, Ruth Ponder; caring brother-in-law, Carl Lakes; many nieces; nephews; cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Emma Cunagin. The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Hospice Care, especially Laura Alexoff and Robin. Their care and concern were an appreciative comfort to the entire family. We will forever remember Daisy's warm heart and joyful personality. Thank you, Daisy, for being part of our lives for these 77 years. The funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1170 Eaton Road, with Pastor Mark Wurzelbacher officiating. Visitation will precede the funeral from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Interment will be for family, on Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at Rose Hill Burial Park.
