Published in the Winston-Salem Journal on 12/10/2008 Winston-Salem NC MOCKSVILLE - Cyrus Clyde Lakey, 75, of Madison Road, died on Monday, December 08, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. Born in Davie County on March 12, 1933, he was the son of the late Hiram Austin and Margaret Jane Todd Lakey. He was retired from Western Electric and was a member of Hardison U.M. Church. His wife of 44 years, Betty Jo Foster Lakey, preceded him in death. Mr. Lakey is survived by four daughters, Auburn (David) Bailey of Mocksville, Brenda (Darrell) Epperson of Oak Ridge, NC, Becky Jones of Mocksville, and Margaret (Kenneth) Bieman of Denver, NC; a sister, Ruth Lakey, six grandchildren and a great grandchild. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Lakey was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. The service to celebrate the life of Mr. Lakey will be held on Saturday, December 13, at 2:00 p.m., at Hardison United Methodist Church, with Rev. Crystal Alexander and Rev. Dennis Marshall officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Mr. Lakey gave the last gift of his life, his worldly body, to medical research so that others may be healed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hardison U. M.
