The Herald Democrat; Sherman TX; 2001-10-2 Clarence Ray Lakey Windom -- Funeral services for Mr. Clarence Ray Lakey, age 78, of Windom, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2001, in the Wise Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Brian Rayburn of the Bonham Church of God will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dodd City Cemetery. Mr. Lakey passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2001, at Northeast Medical Center in Bonham. Mr. Lakey was born in Fannin County on February 12, 1923, the son of Virgil Lakey and Bessie Lee Dillard Lakey. He attended school at Lone Elm near Lamasco. He married Lou Ella Stroud in 1946, in Dodd City, Texas and she preceded him in death on April 2, 1985. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of World War II. Mr. Lakey was a member of the Bonham VFW and a lifetime resident of Fannin County. He was a member of the Church of God in Bonham. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eulis Lakey. He is survivied by one son, Ray Lakey of Bonham; one daughter, Kathy Brown of Wolfe City; three brothers, Jimmy Lakey of Irving, Roy Lakey of Ravenna and Billy Lakey of Bonham; half brother, Willie Arthur Lakey of Alamogorda, N.M.; three sisters, Virgie Stroud of Bonham, Vena Craig of Windom and Ella Caughron of Big Sandy, Texas; four grandchildren, Bobby Ray Lakey, Travis Ray Robison, Kristi Robison and Leslie Brown; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbeareres will be Travis Robison, Bobby Lakey, Milton Robinson, Mike Stroud, Ronald Burpo, Gary Lakey and Jimmy Dale Lakey. The family received friends at Wise Funeral Home from 7 until 8 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2001.
