Idaho Press Tribune; Nampa ID; 2003-9-25 Chris C. Lakey Obituary - Chris C. Lakey, 93, of Nampa, passed away at his home on Monday Sept. 22, 2003. He was born June 10, 1910, at Soda Springs to Charles R. and Evelyn Bishop Lakey. He was raised and educated in Soda Springs. He married Myrna Vera Dietrich at Paris, Idaho, on March 21, 1930. They celebrated 73 years of marriage. Chris and Myrna first made their home in Soda Springs. In 1952 they moved to Council and then to Wilowa, Ore., in 1956. In 1961 they made their home in Nampa. Chris was a rancher and raised sheep and cattle. He also worked as a cook for nine years at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. They had three children: Bonnie, Romaine and Eva. Chris loved his wife, children and all of his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. "We will miss you." Chris is survived by his wife, Myrna; children, Bonnie and Kay Bowen of Yuma, Ariz., Romaine and Mary Lakey of Boise and Eva and Dick Phillips of Rock Springs, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ezra Lakey, Russell Lakey and Ronald Lakey; five sisters, Virginia Evans, Edith Shaw, June Sasserville, Jessie Ballard and Ryllis Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Maylin Lakey, Betty Poulsen and Mary Lloyd. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. in the Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd., Nampa. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Soda Springs on Saturday at 2 p.m.
