Pasco WA Lak, Cecelia Anna Mierzejewski Nov. 22, 1918-Oct. 10, 2004 Cecelia Anna Mierzejewski Lak, 85, was called by God to heaven on Sunday, October 10, 2004. She passed away peacefully at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, WA. A native of Norwich, Connecticut, Cecelia was born on November 22, 1918, to Polish parents Anna Szumlas and Alexander Mierzejewski and lived in Reno, Nev., for over 50 years. She resided at the Legacy House in Kennewick, WA, for the past 1 1/2 years. Cecelia was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph, a former detective with the Reno Police Department; her parents, Alexander and Anna Mierzejewski; and her brother, Henry Mierzejewski. 'Ceil' graduated from St. Joseph's School in Norwich, the Norwich Free Academy, and the Hospital of St. Raphael School of Nursing in New Haven, CT. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno for a number of years and retired from the Washoe County School District in 1988 after 28 years as a school nurse. She was also a member of St. Therese Little Flower Church in Reno. Cecelia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julianne and David Turner of Kennewick, WA; daughter, Cecelia Lak of Reno, NV; sister and brother-in-law Julia and Frank Kapinos of Norwich, CT; sisters-in-law, Helen Mierzejewski of Norwich, CT, and Irene Steorts of Melbourne, FL; granddaughter and husband, Diana Turner-Eadie and William Eadie of Cheshire, CT; grandson, Andrew Turner of Victorville, CA; granddaughter, Christina Turner of Seattle, WA; and also nephews, nieces and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Joseph's Church in Norwich on Oct. 16. Cecelia is buried next to her husband at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to local humane societies. Everyone who knew her will dearly miss her, her kindness and caring, and her sense of humor. Her faith in God was unquestionable as was her devotion to Mary, His mother. Rest in peace, Cecelia, and now you can once again dance the polka.
