All I know is that William was born in New Jersey, May 4 1840 , and died 8 April 1881 in Belle Plaine, Sumner Co., Kansas, He married married Malvina Phillips on 14 Dec 1870 in Lambertville, Hunterdon Co., NJ. She was born 5 Sep 1846 in Mercer Co., NJ, and died 2 Sep 1928 in Belle Plaine, Sumner Co., KS. They had 4 children: 1. Lawrence C. 2 Mar 1873, Phillipsburg, NJ 2. Lela M. 17 Dec 1874 Phillipsburg, NJ 3. Charles S. 15 Sep 1876 Easton, PA 4. Wilda M. 25 Apr 1881 Belle Plaine, Sumner Co., KS He was in the Civil War, I have his pension packet, it was filed by Malvina after his death, so no information on his parents there. He was in B Co. 38th New Jersey Vol Inf. He enlisted on 5 Sep 1864 at Flemington, New Jersey and discharged 30 June 1865 at City Point, VA. The trial of Oron Troup for the murder of William Lake came off in May but the jury disagreed and he will be retried in Sept.
