April 26, 1881 On Monday last, intelligence was received in Lambertville of the death of William Lake, who has been living for some time near Belle Plain, Kansas. He was at one time a resident of Lambertville and was a brother of Cornelius Lake, of that place. Mr. Lake was shot by a young man named Oran Troupe, living in the neighborhood. It seems that there was a settlement between the parties, Mr. Lake having done some threshing for the Troupe family, and while the matter was being talked over on Monday afternoon, young Troupe drew a revolver and shot Lake dead. November 21, 1882, Forty-Fifth Volume, No. 14 Deaths Local Department Mr. Charles Lake, an unmarried man, aged about 33 years, died very unexpectedly at the residence of his brother, Isaac, between Locktown and Sergeantsville, on Sunday night week ago. He had been suffering with toothache during the evening and the family retired leaving him sitting in a chair.
