From: Hornblower16@aol.com Date: Fri, 1 Apr 2005 14:47:07 EST Abraham Lake (Abin) born either 1/14/1784 or 4/18/1784. Married to Elizabeth Acree (born 2/14/1793 - probably in Greene County, GA) on 1/10/1810 She died on 2/18/1861 and is buried in the Forsyth (GA) City Cemetery. I did see her grave when I was there a couple of years ago but nothing on Abraham. Abraham died 6/2/1866 probably on his plantation near Forsyth in Monroe County, GA. They had 10 children: Seany born 1811 (?) married John (Francis?) M. Powell Martha Emily Mary Ann born 12/1/1830 Elizabeth Joseph (there is a Joseph M age 1 year 5 months also buried with Elizabeth in the Forsyth City Cemetery. I am assuming it is this Joseph which is probably the wrong thing to do! James born 1823?, died 8/14/1848. Buried with mother in Forsyth City Cemetery John Wood born 1829, died 7/4/1880 Francis born 2828 or 1830 Sallie Lavonia born 11/4/1837, died 1/4/1899. Married Fletcher Leak on 7/101865. He was born 1829 and died 1900. (Hope I typed all this right) John Wood Lake is my great grandfather. He died a few months before his second wife Mary Jane Godfrey who passed away 10/12/1880. (His first wife was her sister Martha and he married them both in Savannah) I can find no record of were he or his wives are buried. As with Abraham, who was fairly well to do, at least before the war, this family wasn't downtrodden and there should be a record of their demises somewhere and where buried. So frustrating!!!! Don From: Hornblower16@aol.com Date: Sun, 3 Apr 2005 19:24:36 EDT Here is an update I overlooked....James Lake moved to Cave Springs, GA not Cane. It is a suburb of Rome and I just recently wrote Floyd County and Rome Chamber to get some info on the area from them, including a cemetery listing with locations.
